Superior Position, Convenient Transportation
Huangshan City, which is located in the southern tip of Anhui Province and is situated in the junction of three provinces------Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangxi Province, has the special advantageous geographical position as a bridge between the east and the west that stretches from the north to the south. Dating back to the ancient times, Huangshan City, whose predecessor is the Huizhou area (also called Xin’an), has existed for more than 200 years. Now this city has become an emerging international tourist city. In 1987, State Council approved the establishment of Huangshan City. It currently has jurisdiction over three districts (Tunxi, Huangshan, Huizhou District), four counties (Shexian County, Xiuning County, Qimen County, Yixian County) and Huangshan Scenic Area. The city’s total population is 150 million and its total area is 9807 square kilometers. The transportation of Huangshan City extends in all directions. There is an existing federal highway and eight provincial roads across the city territory. Anhui-Jiangxi railway links two districts and four counties. Huangshan airport has been opened more than 20 routes including to South Korea and Japan as well as Hong Kong and Macau. Huihang expressway also has been opened to traffic in 2004, and Hefei-Tongling-Huangshan expressway will be completed in 2007. The construction of the other expressways has been started or will be started, such as Huangshan-Qimen-Jingdezhen, Huangshan-Quzhou-Nanping, Jixi-Yangzhou. Along with the construction of Anhui-Jingxi multiple track and the project to comprehensively prevent and control Xin’an river route, the modernized three-dimensional transportation network will be formed in my city, which will become 2 hours to 4 hours transportation scope with the main cities in East China and the Central China.
Excellent ecology, Rich resources
Subtropical Huangshan City has a moist monsoon climate------four distinct seasons, sufficient sunlight, abundant rainfall, and a mild climate. Its average annual temperature is between 15.6℃ to 16.3℃. The forest coverage rate of the whole city has reached 77.4 percent. The quality of the atmosphere and the most surface water has reached national top-grade level, which makes Huangshan City become one of first-class atmosphere cities. Huangshan Scenic Area, where the amount of the negative oxygen ion comes up to 2-21 ten thousand/cubic meter (1000/cubic meter has the effect of health care immediately),is worthy of the name “the natural oxygen”. There are 3000 different plants species and more than 360 species of animals within the boundaries of Huangshan City. This city abounds in the famous Santan Loquat, Huizhou Sydney, Huizhou Torreya grandis, Huizhou Mushroom and Huangshan Tribute Chrysabthemum, and it is also renowned for its well-known tea such as Huangshan Maofeng Tea, the Monkey Chief Peace, Qimen Black Tea and Tunxi Green Tea. It is also one of the main areas to produce Eastern wood, mulberry-feeding silkworm, fruits, edible fungus and Chinese herbal medicines, containing 15 kinds of the underground mineral resources, particularly fluorite, serpentine, the bone coal, the china clay and bentonite, which occupies 70 percent of the reserves in the whole province.
Tourist resort, Brilliant culture
Huangshan Mountain------ a representative of this city, is the one which gathers three laurels------world cultural heritage, natural heritage and world geological park, and is celebrated for its “five uniqueness”------strange pines, rocks, the sea of clouds, hot springs and snow. Within the boundaries of Huangshan City, the tourism resources are exceptional. There are not only ancient villages Xidi and Hongcun (world culture heritage) and national historical culture town Shexian, but also a large number of national major scenic sports such as Qiyun Mountain, Mystery (Zhejiang Scenic Area), Gu Niujiang and Taiping Lake. Many Huizhou ancient houses and honorofic archways are known as Chinese painting villages or Utopia households for its landscape mosaic in mountains and rivers. Huangshan City is the hometown of Huizhou merchants who has dominated the business circles for more than 300 yeasrs, fostering the splendid Huizhou culture. Huizhou ink and Shexian inkstone are called treasures of the study; Huizhou cuisine, Huizhou drama, Huizhou carved folk art, Xin’an painting school, Xin’an medicine, Huizhou architecture and Huizhou bonsai all have a long history; Numerous relics such as Tangyue honorific archway, Xuguo arch, Tunxi old street, Cheng Dawei’s former residence, Tao Xingzhi Museum are a comprehensive expression of history and culture. Physicist Zhu Xi, philosopher Dai Zhen, abacus arithmetic Cheng Dawei, the founder of Xin’an painting school Zhejiang, famous Huizhou merchant Hu Xueyan, educator Tao Xingzhi, the traditional Chinese painting artist Huang Binghong, sholar Hu Shi and others will do down in history. The humanity landscape groups can be found all over Huizhou land which usually enjoys high reputation of “a state of ceremonies”. There are more than 5000 relics, 17 of which are key historical relics protected by the nation, and 72 of which are the ones protected by Anhui province.

The natures of Huangshan City are: an international tourist city, a well-known natural and cultural heritages and a central city on the border of Anhui, Zhejiang and Jiangxi. A large number of urban public services and tourist facilities have been completed. The water and electricity supply in the whole city is ample and communication is advanced. Huangshan Huangshan people focus on the completion of “the most beautiful country, the richest mountain area, and the best ecology”, pushing ahead with the “443” plan of action------that is, to rely on tourism resources, cultural resources, ecological resources and natural resources to accelerate the construction of an international tourist resort, national ecological demonstration base, green food production and processing base in East China, and cultural industrial base in Anhui province, and to complete a modern developed city and a major tourist city, cultural city and ecological city.
